1. Who we are

HSKDrills.com (the "Site") is an independent, free study tool for learners preparing for the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK). The Site is operated by an individual creator and does not represent any official testing authority.

2. Data we collect

We aim to collect as little personal data as possible.

• Local-only learning data: your goal, streak, mistake book, and progress are stored exclusively in your browser via localStorage. They are never transmitted to us.
• Server logs: standard request logs (IP address, user agent, referrer, timestamp) handled by our hosting provider for security and abuse prevention.
• Analytics: aggregated, privacy-preserving analytics (e.g., Cloudflare Web Analytics) without cross-site tracking.
• Advertising data: if Google AdSense is enabled, Google may set cookies to deliver and measure ads. See section 5.

3. Cookies & local storage

We use localStorage to remember your study progress and language preference. We do not use first-party tracking cookies. Third-party cookies, if present, are set by Google (advertising) or our analytics provider as described below.

4. Why we process data

To deliver and secure the Site, to display ads (so the Site can stay free), and to understand which pages need improvement.

5. Advertising (Google AdSense)

When advertising is enabled, third-party vendors including Google use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info.

6. Affiliate disclosure

Some external links to study materials, online tutors, or books may be affiliate links. We may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We only link to resources we believe are useful for HSK candidates.

7. Children's privacy

The Site is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data, please contact us.

8. Data retention

Server logs are typically retained for up to 30 days. Aggregated analytics are retained as long as needed for trend analysis. Your local progress remains in your browser until you clear it.

9. International transfers

Our hosting and analytics providers may operate globally; data may be processed in jurisdictions with different data protection laws. Providers are selected for their compliance posture (GDPR, applicable US frameworks).

10. Your rights (EEA/UK/CA/CO/CT, etc.)

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because the Site holds essentially no personal data on its servers, most rights are exercised by you directly clearing your browser storage.

11. California Notice (CCPA/CPRA)

We do not sell personal information for monetary value. Use of advertising cookies may, under some interpretations, constitute "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can use the opt-outs in section 5.

12. Security

We use HTTPS, a reputable hosting provider, and standard security headers. No system is 100% secure; please use strong passwords on services you connect to the Site.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision. Continued use of the Site means acceptance of the current version.
